So, my time in France is coming to an end. I’ll fly out tomorrow at noon. I’m so excited to see what Madrid has in store for me, but I’ve made memories here that will last a life time. The French are amazing. Contrary to popular belief, they are extremely kind and generous people. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to come to France and experience their culture. It was one of the best, and one of the most difficult, experiences I’ve ever had. I was always on my feet, visiting new places that I would never have imagined in all my life. France by far beats Chicago with its' architecture and scenery, but Chicago has better french fries (I finally tried French McDonalds).
If you ever go to visit another country, please make sure to learn their language. Fortunately for me, English is everywhere in France. I tried to find a t-shirt with the French flag, or with “France” written on it, and it was impossible! Everywhere I looked, I found shirts with the USA flag or with “Chicago” on it, but zero shirts with “France” on it! Any of my friends want a Chicago t-shirt? Anyway, my next goal is to learn France so I can come back and actually understand people. We went to an outdoor market, and I was looking at a dress for myself. A guy came up to me and starting saying, “kdiedk cdsiewsoi blah blah dkcslif lkdi blah.” Do you know how stupid I felt when I had to say, “Oh… sorry I don’t speak French.” What kind of person doesn’t speak French in France? Only ignorant Americans. The British are right! (Please reference Blog #3 to understand joke). Le Casino (not sure if that's French) Yesterday, we went to the casino! I’ve never felt so cool in my life. I even won 20 cents. So, by the end of the night I had only lost $89.90. Just kidding. I only lost $9.80. I can’t fathom parting with any more money than that on a game based on luck. I already know that I have bad luck, and after losing ten dollars, I realized that my bad luck followed me to France. Casinos are pointless anyway. It’s like video games for adults. They play the machines for hours, never actually beating the game, and then they end up losing a million and a half dollars. It’s fun for the first ten dollars, and them I’m out. You wouldn't believe what I saw! One of the most interesting things I saw in France was a prostitute. Actually, I saw multiple prostitutes. I didn’t know they existed! In case any of you were unaware, yes prostitutes are real. Apparently, in France, prostitution isn’t legal but it isn’t illegal. One of my friends said, “The police don’t even know what to do when they see prostitutes.” Anyway, au revoir France. It was amazing, and I hope to be able to visit again. Next stop: Madrid!
