This was my last and most favorite style from Chicago’s Fashion Week! It took place at Baderbrau with over 250 guests in attendance. It was by far the best show we have ever had.
My outfit was a red, velvet cat suit with floral ankle strap heels, and it was fire. It had to be, because I hosted the show! When I arrived, I got my makeup done by @bridgedamper_mua. It turned out to be amazing makeup for camera. My hair was curled and styled by @clifffreemanhair, and it looked so voluminous! Next, I was interviewed by GyrlVersion on the red carpet. I spoke on behalf of my blog and my experience with fashion week. They posted bloopers from our interview, and you don’t want to miss it. You can check out my bloopers at @gyrlversion on Instagram and the full video here. I thought I was just hosting the red carpet, but I was told ten minutes before the show started that I would be hosting the show. Thankfully, I’m so familiar with fashion week that it was easy. We had four designers, one of them being Phomaz – a hand bag design. There were also four designs by students! Now, for the outfit details: Jumpsuit: I actually bought this jumpsuit for New Year’s Eve, because I knew it would be freezing. If you remember, it was like negative thirty degrees. The jumpsuit kept me cozy. I stumbled upon a new store called Rainbow in Uptown one day. It has a ton of cheap clothing, so I fell in love. Think of a Ross meets Discovery. Price: $15 Shoes: I got these shoes at a discount store, too! I have no idea what the store is or the brand, but I had been looking for ankle strap shoes for a while. I had a hard time find the perfect shoes to go with this outfit. My shoes had to be short, because it would have ruined the jumpsuit otherwise, and I wanted them to be strappy, because the jumpsuit was overwhelming with solid red color. It was between these and all-black strappy shoes. I went with these, because I wanted to bring some pattern to my outfit, plus they were new. Price: $3 Accessories: Originally, I had a choker that I wanted to wear with this outfit, but in all honesty, I wasn’t feeling the skinniest. Since my jumpsuit was a solid color, I felt like it made me look bigger and that eyes would be drawn to my hips. So, I went with a long gold necklace to pull attention inwards towards the middle of my body. I felt a lot more comfortable after that. Price: FREE, because it came with a shirt. Total: $17 All in all, it was a great fashion week! Keep an eye out for our next fashion week in October! Love, Miz Mak

Day 5 of Chicago Fashion Week was at the John Marshall School of Law. The theme: “Beautiful Business.” There was a strong presence of professional garments for men and women.
One of the best parts was that Sally Schulze from Fox 32 news was the host! She even came to sit right next to me during the show, and of course, I snagged a selfie. It's exciting to hear how the media is starting to grab ahold of CFW! I wanted to stick with the beautiful business theme, but make it sexy with some lace, velvet and dark colors. See details below. Top: I went with a black, lace body suit. If you look at both sides, you’ll notice how it had a ‘business-in-the-front-party-in-the-back feel.’ Price: $20 from Akira Bottom: My stepmom gave me this skirt when she moved to Florida, because she doesn’t need a wool skirt in 70 degree weather. Lucky her. This is a grey, wrap skirt with a tulip shape. It was also two size too big, but I made it work! Price: Free! Shoes: I have mentioned these shoes before. Since my skirt was a little short, I wore long velvet black boots to match. Plus, it was a little chilly that day. Price: $80 from DSW, but they were a gift, so free! Total: $20 Love, Miz Mak Day 4 took place at the Fourth Presbyterian Church. We saw designs from House of Flayva and Brand 93. My second outfit was inspired by a mixture of church/heaven and Kim K. I wanted to stay with the light colors, especially the white on white. Cape: This gorgeous little cape is a mixture of a blazer and a cape, and I absolutely love it. Price: $30 from Akira Top: I'm wearing a creme-colored velvet body suit. It was a small, and I realized that I do not fit into a small body suit. I may be able to fit my top into a small, but not my bottom, if you know what I mean. Needless to say, it was not very comfortable in some regions... If it had been a size bigger, I would have loved it. Price: $3 from Forever 21 Bottoms: I don't typically wear anything that flares at the bottom, but I do think the style is coming back. The pants are a high-waisted white dress pant. Price: $20 from Charlotte Russe Shoes: Since I wore pants that are wider at the bottom, I wanted to wear high heels. These shoes are six-inch glittery shoes. I wanted to add a little sparkle to my outfit! Price: $30 from DSW Love, Miz Mak
